News roundup--Thomas Pink, Oxfam, more

By Direct Commerce | Publication date: 25/07/2012 | Category: News

Shirt retailer Thomas Pink delivered UK pretax profits of £1.58 million in the year to 31st December, up on £408,000 in the previous year, reports the Evening Standard. Turnover grew 6 percent to £33.9 million in the UK last year. The article also notes that Thomas Pink is planning to open its first store in India later this year.

As cash-strapped Britons strive to make their money go further, charity shop Oxfam posted record sales of £89.9 million in 2011/12, £4 million more than last year. Online sales generated 24 percent more income this year.

Online retailer Lingerieplease.co.uk is using video technology to create a virtual dressing room on its website. The tool allows users to command models of their size to walk around and turn to show a realistic portrayal of what the item would look like on them. This video technology was previously used by the company Knickerpicker, a company acquired by Lingerieplease’s parent company Justsayplease Ltd, in 2011.
