News roundup--N Brown Group, Argos, more

By Direct Commerce | Publication date: 01/05/2012 | Category: News

Turnover for the full year at Simply Be and Jacamo owner N Brown Group was up 4.8 percent to £753.2 million. Pretax profit was also up, by 2.5 percent, to £96.9 million. The company's solid performance was driven by developments in multichannel retailing, including investments in ecommerce, which saw online sales rise 16 percent to £377 million, representing more than half of total sales for the first time. As predicted earlier this week Figleaves, the 13-year-old lingerie etailer, announced its maiden profit last year.

John Walden, the new chief executive of Argos, has appointed consultants to conduct a review of the retailer, which could see some stores close, reports the Telegraph.

Nine items from an Asos capsule collection are being made available offline as well as on the Asos.com website. In collaboration with London concept store B Store, Asos rolls out its new collection this week.
